SUMMARY:The Figure: Norman Steel\, Maisie Parker\, Debbi Sutton & Stella Murray Whatley
DESCRIPTION:This is an exhibition of work based on the figure\, life drawings\, urban sketching and imaginative work in which the figure is the focus. This exhibition takes the viewer through the journey of 4 artists who engage with the figure. Norman Steel’s primary interest is people\, whether in life class on or with his Urban Sketcher group. Maisie Parker works directly from observation onto lino in her life Drawing prints. Debbi Sutton began with Life Drawing evening classes although much work she produces now is conceptual\, it is grounded in the years she spent in the Life Room. Stella Murray Whatley is an established professional artist whose interest in the figure and portraiture is a strong element in her representational work.

SUMMARY:World Art Games
DESCRIPTION:Norman is one of the UK artist participants in the World Art Games for 2015. This will take place in Bratislava from 1st to 9th of September. Two pieces of art have been selected\, ‘View from the Monmouth and Brecon Canal’ and ‘Somerset Levels in Flood 2015’. With luck these paintings will soon be part of the WAG permanent exhibition.

SUMMARY:LIFE | CIC TAUNTON
DESCRIPTION:Norman Steel is a Taunton-based artist\, often seen around town sketching Taunton people as they simply go about their business. Four of his paintings were selected for the Ashfords exhibition in November 2014 and he was artist in Residence in 2013 and 2014 for the Taunton Flower Show. \nHe considers the study of the human figure to be the most challenging discipline that an artist can undertake and he has chosen to feature his life studies for the first time in his solo exhibition celebrating ‘Life’. These will be exhibited alongside his more informal ‘street’ studies. \nThe exhibition will also feature his colourful paintings both of people and landscapes so there is truly something for everyone to enjoy. \nNorman is an active member of Somerset Contemporary Artists Network and Taunton Deane Creatives’ Club and is well known at the Creative Innovation Centre. It is very fitting\, therefore\, that this is the venue for his first exhibition of his life-drawings.
